DES SOURCES ALFA ROMEO

Here is everything we know about the new 2021 Alfa Romeo GTV!

Alfa Romeo GTV Design

The acronym GTV stands for “Gran Turismo Veloce” and is an integral part of the Alfa Romeo myth. Indeed, several vehicles of the Italian manufacturer have carried these three letters, such as the Alfetta GTV and, more recently, the Alfa Romeo GTV “916”.

Synonymous with Italian sport, these letters should soon make a return to the transalpine brand’s catalog, in the form of a large coupé. Des Sources Alfa Romeo, your Alfa Romeo dealer of choice in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, tells you below everything we know about the 2021 Alfa Romeo GTV!

As sensationally designed as the Alfa Giulia and Stelvio?

First and foremost, a clarification: no official information has been released about the style of this new model. However, the 2021 GTV is expected to be a sports coupe with typical Italian lines that are at least as attractive as those of the Giulia or Stelvio.

Thus, it should retain the iconic Alfa inverted triangle grille and offer streamlined headlights, very Latin curved fenders and very aggressive taillights. If the 2021 Alfa Romeo GTV has a colour scheme incorporating the iconic Alfa Rosso or the magnificent Misano Blue Metallic, it is sure to be a hit in the West Island and elsewhere in Montreal!

Undoubtedly Extraordinary Technical Specifications

Indeed, Alfa Romeo is a manufacturer with a very prestigious sporting past. As a result, each new model is eagerly awaited, above all in terms of mechanical features. However, with the specifications on the current Alfa Romeo models and what is said about the new 2021 GTV, there is no need to worry!

In fact, according to specialists from the prestigious Car and Driver magazine, the new sports coupé should be based on the architecture already used by the Stelvio and Giulia. And regarding the Giulia, its platform offers rigorous road handling, which makes it very dynamic.

Following this logic, the Alfa Romeo coupe’s engines should be similar to those of the two models mentioned above. For example, the entry-range model should be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 280 horsepower. At the other end of the range, there should be a Quadrifoglio version, based on the super powerful 505-horsepower 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 of the 2021 Giulia‘s eponymous version. Alfa is also apparently developing an innovative hybrid system that could deliver up to 600 hp for short periods of time. Could future GTV models adopt it near DDO? Time will tell!

In the meantime, on the transmission side, there is a good chance that if it is made official, the future Alfa coupe will get a standard rear while drive. It could also be offered with an all-wheel drive system that gives preference to the rear wheels in normal conditions, for greater sportiness.

Interior: state-of-the-art design and technology

Just as for the exterior and technical features, we don’t know anything official about the interior. However, knowing that the 2021 GTV should be based on the same platform as the Giulia and Stelvio, the interior design should be inspired from these two vehicles.

For example, the 2021 GTV should have a curved dashboard, like the wave-shaped one in the current 2021 Giulia. The finish should be flawless, with perfect adjustments and the highest quality materials.

By way of example: the steering wheel of Alfa Romeo's Giulia 2021

The new Alfa GTV should also be packed with the latest technology and interior equipment. As a reminder, the 2021 Giulia may offer, depending on the version, a premium audio system by Harman/Kardon, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone compatibility, an inductive charger or an intelligent cruise control. The new Italian coupe will undoubtedly offer a similar or even more modern equipment, as the Giulia is of an earlier design than this one.

All in all, the future 2021 Alfa Romeo GTV, if made official by Alfa Romeo Canada, promises to be one of the most exciting sports cars in Dollard-des-Ormeaux and more broadly in Montreal

However, still according to Car and Driver, the project of this vehicle, which was expected to be officially unveiled at the end of 2019 for marketing in 2020, seems to be postponed without further details. Thus, the vehicle may never see the light of day. But let’s not give up hope! Alfa Romeo has always been a brand full of surprises.
